Getting visitors but no enquiries? 7 fixes for your website

People visit, but the phone stays quiet. Seven fixes, from 5-minute changes to small rewrites, that turn visitors into WhatsApp messages and calls.

A phone landing page for an aircond service with a starting price and a WhatsApp button, next to four fixes: one clear line, a starting price, one main button, tap to call.

If people are visiting your website but nobody calls, messages or fills in the form, the site is doing half its job. It's being found. It just isn't making the next step easy.

Here are seven fixes, roughly from quickest to biggest. Most take less than an afternoon.

1. Make your phone number tappable

On a phone, a number that isn't a link means the visitor has to copy it, or remember it. Most won't. Make every phone number on the site a tap-to-call link, including the one in the footer.

2. Add a WhatsApp button with a message already typed

For Malaysian customers, WhatsApp is often the easiest way to ask. A WhatsApp click-to-chat link opens a chat with your number in one tap.

Add a prefilled message, such as "Hi, I'd like to ask about your services." An empty chat box makes people stop and think about what to write. A message that's already there gets sent.

3. Answer the question you get asked every day

What does every customer ask you on WhatsApp? "How much?" "Do you cover my area?" "How long does it take?"

That question belongs on your homepage, with the answer. Visitors who can't find it often leave instead of asking.

4. Show a price, or at least a starting price

Many owners hide prices because every job is different. But "Contact us for a quote" asks a stranger to do work before they know if you're in their budget.

A starting price ("from RM…") or a range works. It also filters out people who were never going to buy, so the enquiries you get are better ones.

5. Give each page one main button

A page with "Call us", "WhatsApp", "Email", "Book now" and "Download brochure" all at the same size asks the visitor to choose. Pick the one action you want most on each page. Make that the button people see first, and keep the others smaller.

6. Test your contact form today

Fill it in yourself. Then check:

  • Did the message arrive?
  • Did it land in spam?
  • Does someone actually read that inbox?
  • Did the visitor get a reply saying when you'll get back to them?

Forms that send to an old email address are more common than you'd think. Every one of those is an enquiry you never saw.

7. Say what you do in one sentence, at the top

Visitors decide in a few seconds whether they're in the right place. The first line they see should say what you do, for whom, and where. "Aircond servicing for homes in Shah Alam and Klang" beats "Your trusted partner in comfort".

If you can't write that sentence yet, write it before you change anything else on the site.

A 5-minute check on your own phone

Open your website on your phone, as if you were a customer, and try to:

Anything you can't do in a few seconds is a place you're losing enquiries.

If the fixes don't help

Sometimes the problem isn't the page. It's who's arriving. Ads sent to a five-page homepage, or a site that's hard to find on Google, can bring the wrong visitors. Types of website for a business explains how to match the site to where your visitors come from.

If your site needs more than a few fixes, you don't have to start with a long brief. We copy your current site to a private staging link and you pin what's wrong: how a rebuild works. Or get your website plan to see what to fix first.
